New Cascadia ABS Fault code SPN 520272 FMI 13

This solution applies to all New Cascadia vehicles.

Symptoms:

ABS Lamp on and active fault codes SA11 SPN 520272 FMI 13 --EOL Parameter ESC-Function (Steering Ratio Parameters) - out of calibration.

Issue

The code SA11 SPN 520272 FMI 13 --EOL Parameter ESC-Function (Steering Ratio Parameters) - out of calibration, will be active if the steering angle parameters are not correct.   The code typically is accompanied by Fault code SA 11 SPN 520213 FMI 31 -ESC Calibration Procedure /Condition exists.   To see the "Steering Angle Ratios", use DiagnosticLink to access the vehicle's Parameters.  Under the ABS- Antilock Braking System ABS02T there is a folder labeled "Total Vehicle Configuration".  When accessing the "Total Vehicle Configuration" folder, a good indication that the steering angles are incorrect, can be validated by the steering angles values showing "SNA" See screen print below. 

Solution

To correct the code SA11 SPN 520272 FMI 13 --EOL Parameter ESC-Function (Steering Ratio Parameters) - out of calibration, the ABS ECU will need to have the original ABS programming reloaded. The ABS ECU reprogramming software can be accessed at meritorwabco.snapon.com.  A new ABS ECU does not need to be purchased as the ABS ECU can be reprogrammed with the original software. Meritor Wabco Technical Bulletin TP-1681 can be accessed for any questions about how to program the ABS ECU once the software has been acquired. Once the ABS ECU has been reprogrammed, the code SA11 SPN 520272 FMI 13 will go inactive, but fault code SA 11 SPN 520213 FMI 31 -ESC Calibration Procedure /Condition exists will probably still be present.  To clear this code the ESC Learning Procedure located in DiagnosticLink will need to be run. This learning procedure can be accessed by selecting the action tab at the top of the page and selecting anti-lock braking system. Under the anti-lock braking system heading select ESC leaning procedure.  Once the learning procedure is complete the code SA 11 SPN 520213 FMI 31 should go inactive.
