Symptoms

SPN 879 or 881 FMI 6 Active Fault Codes.

Issue

SPN 879 FMI 6 Fault Code in Service Literature described as Front Left Turn Lamp – Current above expected value, and is associated with CHM C3-N pin.

There is another pin, CHM C1-N on Chassis Module, that is programmed to generate same 879 FMI 6 fault code.

SPN 881 FMI 6 Fault Code in Service Literature described as Front Right Turn Lamp - Current above expected value, and is associated with CHM C3-R pin.

There is another pin, CHM C1C-L, on Chassis Module programmed to generate same 881 FMI 6 fault code.

Solution

If 879 FMI 6 Fault code is present, check both CHM C3-N pin and CHM C1-N pins for overcurrent condition.

If 881 FMI 6 Fault code is present, check both CHM C3-R pin and CHM C1-L pins for overcurrent condition.
