Freightliner Cascadia, how to find a windshield water leak inside the cab

LOCATING LEAKS IN FRONT OF CAB
If a leak is suspected, thoroughly check the cab for leaks, but do not rule out the possibility that the moisture came from condensation, a drink spill, or a window left open in the rain.

Testing with a garden hose
CAUTION: Before leak testing with a garden hose, make sure the FL545 Recall repairs have been completed. This precaution must be taken to protect the SAM Cab and SAM
Chassis from water damage, in the event that a leak is identified and water enters the cab during the leak test.

To test for leaks with a garden hose, hold the outlet of the hose a few inches from the truck and allow water to pour onto the areas of interest. Hold the hose at each location for at least 1 minute to allow time for any internal cavities to fill. Do not use a high pressure nozzle or a pressure washer. The following locations should be tested with this method:
1. Forward roof-to-cab seam, above doors and at top of A-pillars.
2. Upper windshield seal; where the longitudinal raised roof seam meets the seal.
3. Lower A-pillar.

Leak Testing With Soapy Water
If a water leak is found during the garden hose test, and the location of the leak is not obvious, the following procedure can be used to pinpoint the location(s) where water may enter the cab.
1. Park the vehicle, apply the parking brakes, and chock the front and rear tires.
2. Prepare a wash solution of at least one-quarter cup of soap to one gallon of water in a spray bottle.
3. Place tape over the cab exhausters. 
4. Close all doors, windows, and vents.
5. With the HVAC system in "Fresh Air" mode, turn the fan blower motor on high.
6. Spray the cab, and sleeper if so equipped, with the wash solution, and look for bubbles.
Inspect all applicable areas listed below:
• windshield center post
• windshield perimeter (glass to seal, and seal to cab)
• roof-cap joint
• marker lights
• frontwall bulkhead connectors
7. Mark areas of suspected leaks.

NOTE: This method of leak detection may also identify areas that will not leak water, even though those areas produce bubbles. Bubbles around door seals, baggage doors, and along the vehicle side walls will likely not cause water intrusion issues. If small bubbles are found in an area that is not suspected to leak, a repair may not be necessary.

8. Rinse the wash solution off the vehicle with water.
9. Turn off the fan blower motor.
10. Remove the tape from the cab exhausters.
11. Remove the chocks from the tires.
