Adding a Fan Override Switch (Legacy Cascadia)
Posted by: Duaparts on

Applicable Vehicles:
All legacy Cascadia
Issue:
Customer desires to add a fan override switch.
Existing sales code:
276-001 AUTOMATIC FAN CONTROL WITHOUT DASH SWITCH, NON ENGINE MOUNTED
Desired sales code:
276-003 AUTOMATIC CONTROL W/DASH SWITCH W/O IND LIGHT, NON ENGINE MTD
Solution:
Install the following switch into a spare location in the MSF or one of the MSF slave modules:
A06-53782-016 SW-MSF,MUX,ENG FA 1.000 EA
Next, set the MSF switch ID65 parameter to the following:
0 447 00 23 PARM-MSF,ENG FAN 1.000 EA
Note: This parameter only has to do with fault reporting - tells MSF this switch is supposed to be installed. It has nothing to do with functionality of the switch.
Next, it will be necessary to set parameters on the engine to enable a multiplexed fan override switch.
For Detroit Engines:
Set the J1939 Fan Request Enable under PGR019 = CM1 from SA1 and SA2 (see below):
(This allows the engine to receive engine fan requests from both the HVAC and the MSF fan override switch)
For Cummins Engines:
In INSITE under the SAE J1939 Multiplexing folder, set the Fan Control Switch = Enabled, then select 49-Cab Controller.
(This allows the engine to receive engine fan requests from the MSF fan override switch)
